I remember taking the 120 MPG "bullet train" (back then that was fast) from Maidenhead to London in 1985 or so, when visiting home for a family wedding... smooth, efficient, and full almost to capacity.
We're now almost 20 years on from that trip, and the rest of the industrailised world has mag-lev, TGV and other fast trains which safely, routinely exceed 200 mph, all while being far more effective and efficient modes for mass people moving than anything we're doing yet... it would be nice to finally join with our various allies and competitors in the modern world: good to know there's motion.
