    after all that trowelling? I guess Brian poked some holes while it was still wet so the finish coat sticks better. We had to let the base dry before the final finish coat goes on that hides the straw and looks nice and smooth.

    We’re still learning here!

    [...] Playing in the mud Jump to Comments This weekend there was a project at my husbands work site. There was a man there who was teaching anyone who wanted to come how to build with “mud”. The benches on the site are going to be made this way and so LJ Urban hosted a day of learning. We all went as a family and the kids had a blast. They learned a lot and got to stomp around in the mud. It was really cool for me because this is very similar to how they build in Burkina Faso in West Africa. I had told my kids about this but they got to experience it first hand. They were also very excited about the fact that they would be able to say that they helped build the benches right outside their new house. Here is a link to the not quite finished product.
