farmers-market Lucky or Smart?

Another trip to the farmers market under the freeway this weekend got me thinking about how cool it is to live in a place that has so much fertile farm land near by. Makes me think living in a place like this where water and local food are so available should not be a matter of luck but rather a conscious decision. Places like Las Vegas where everything has to be trucked in are not sustainable and the more cheap energy becomes scarce the less viable an option living there will be.

Totally agreed! Each time I fly into Vegas I wonder “how in the heck did this town get here and why do so many people want to live in the middle of a desert??”

The market under the freeway is fantastic. Maybe I will see you next week! :)

I know they are trying to start a W. Sac farmers market. Are you guys involved in that at all?

Once upon a time, access to water and local food were an absolute requirement to create a city…how the heck did we get to a state where the two were separated from each other?
