I dream of a time when society abandons the myth that bigger is better, and begins to embrace the genius of small.
I dream of better places for people to live, places that offer true quality of life not just the illusion of material things making life better.
I dream of a time where neglected urban neighborhoods all across the country are again looked at as places that are worth our time. People who once overlooked these areas because of their crime and neglect will realize that these areas are what we need to focus on to make a difference. These People will be the starters that begin to transform these areas into thriving communities that enrich the lives of the people who call them home.
I believe that there is already an army of such people waiting for the call to stand up and make a difference. There is an entire generation waiting to take the reins who is not easily under the spell of the so called “American Dream”.
We are the generation that will redefine that dream.
I dream of a time when cities are again known as better places to raise our children, a time when we finally realize that the responsibility of cities, land owners, citizens, developers and builders is to make places that are special instead of rows of boxes designed as though we were cars and not humans.
I believe that small done right has more value than big for the sake of being big.
I believe we are ready for the revolution of quality over quantity, ready to re-vision our lifestyles into something that truly works for us and not against us.
And I believe that the time is now to finish off the myth of quantity over quality and start taking our lives back.
Are you with me?
Levi

Hell yes we are with you! Way to lay it all down and call for people to step up and make it happen. I am with you!

“Neglected Urban Neighborhoods,” It sounds like you might have been over in my neighborhood of Oak Park recently. We are doing just this type of work…and yes, it’s happening now! Just look at the photos my neighbor Rebecca took. You don’t see this quality of work today, I can’t wait to see how this diamond in the rough polishes up…

What this word needs is you to step up and take the stand! Thank you for being honest and rocking the place.

I am a new LJ Urbanite and have to say that I am inspired by your vision and creativity. They way the company works makes me want to be a better person. I hope that your success is widespread and noticed because business as usual needs to change and not in just a small way. You seem to have tapped into an understanding of the way things should be. Thank you,
Katie

I am guessing the good stuff side. I to believe that we are long overdue for the quantity over quality shift in society.

Right on. Also, think about how this applies to “stuff”. We should be investing in things that last and can be repaired instead of all the disposable crap we are told to buy over and over…
