The Answer…. (To Last Weeks Question)

We had lots of different opinions to the question of which household uses less energy but there was a clear winner, the final tally was 4 votes for A and 12 for B.

The question was a bit of a tricky one as the equation includes total household energy usage instead of just utility bills. The correct answer is B because when you take into account VMT (vehicle miles traveled) you have a much higher energy usage the farther from city center you live. So congratulations to those of you who said B.

We need to do this more often…

VMT is not the only reason that the answer is B. It is also because the average home size 100 years ago was much less than in 2008. Even though the building is not as efficient, you are conditioning less space.
