Our trees from B Street West have all been milled and stacked to dry for the next year! Now we get to find all kinds of cool uses for the wood that can be built into our project. The boards are about 1-inch thick and vary in widths and lengths according to the logs that we had. After they dry, we will have Burnett and Sons run them through the planer to smooth them out and get them cut to the finish dimensions.

Yield and Value
I estimate we have about 3,500 board feet (same as a square foot in this case) of lumber out of the operation, which cost us about $1 a board foot – a pretty good deal for hardwoods!

Eco-Conscious + Cool Interiors
Plus, it will be holding all that carbon out of the cycle and reducing the consumption of materials for our projects. There is quite a mix with elm, sycamore, hackberry, walnut, blackwood acacia, and cedar represented. Our interior designers Blank Blank are working on uses for them that include stair treads and shelving.

If you’re curious to know more about the different uses of different woods, I came across this great resource.
